At CasaBlanca Academy, we provide a comprehensive program based on the educational and developmental levels of the individual student. Our goal is to provide a solid foundation of learning while allowing flexibility in meeting the individual needs of our students.
Our curriculum is designed to strengthen each student’s developmental capacities in order to guide students to higher order thinking. Engagement, reciprocity, problem solving, and logical thinking are incorporated into every activity in a manner which is both meaningful and purposeful. The curriculum is based upon the DIRFloortime® (developmental, individual-differences, relationship-based) approach and includes:
- Speech and Language
- Self-monitoring techniques
- Social skills training/Peer Play
- Social stories
- Brain Gym
- Thinking Goes to School
- Star Power
- How does your Engine run
- Motor planning, yoga and visualization
- Music/Sing Your Words
Our program uses multi-sensory teaching materials to maximize opportunities for student learning.
Simultaneously, we offer a meaningful academic curriculum, in accordance with the Sunshine State Standards including math, science, language arts, social studies, health, and physical education. Our academic programs build on each individual child’s abilities and interests, leading to increased comprehension and retention of all concepts introduced. Research proven curriculums used to assist students in meeting their academic goals are highly individualized and include: Edmark Reading Program, Reading Milestones, Readers Theater, the Lindamood Bell The Talkies® program, Numicon Math, Saxon Math, as well as the AIMS Education Foundation Science Program.
CasaBlanca Academy also recognizes the importance of including the arts in our programs. In addition to academics, students participate in creative art, music, yoga, breathing, dance, and social stories. We also incorporate sensory activities throughout the day, social skills learning, vision training, and circle time at the beginning and end of each day. Our schedules is highly structured and predictable for our students, with a healthy dose of creativity, spontaneity, and flexibility!
Our Typical Peer Interactions
CasaBlanca Academy is located within the Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church. Although, we have no affiliation or religious denomination, we do have the opportunity to interact with students from other programs within the church. There is a wonderful preschool program that integrates our students into many of their school activities, including a Talent Show, Valentine’s Dance, Pumpkin Patch, and Water Days, to name a few. In addition, there is a home school program that is present at the church weekly, and CasaBlanca Academy has scheduled peer activities each week with this incredible group of kids.
Our Afterschool Programs
Additionally, we offer enriching after-school clubs for students to have additional socializing and where the ratio may increase to 2-students-to-1 teacher, giving students an opportunity to be more independent in a controlled setting. Some of our clubs include Sensory Art, Fun With Foods, Mindful Music, Drama Club, Around the World, Kidokinetics, Running Club, Communication Club and many more!
